About Us
Our Approach
Mobile Minds OT provides specialized occupational therapy support to adults and youth living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). Many individuals with these conditions struggle with daily activities due to chronic pain, fatigue, and joint instability. Our unique approach combines evidence-based therapeutic techniques with personalized care plans, delivered through a hybrid approach ensuring services are accessible to clients with varying levels of mobility. We aim to improve functional independence and quality of life for a significantly underserved population.
You DO NOT need a formal diagnosis of hEDS or HSD to receive support at Mobile Minds OT. Referrals can be from prospective clients themselves OR from other healthcare professionals in the community.
ANYONE is welcome at Mobile Minds OT. This includes people of other chronic health conditions or other forms of EDS.
What We Offer
The focus of occupational therapy is on helping people engage and participate in activities that are important and meaningful to them. These are referred to as a person's 'occupations' and often are broken down into three catagories, which are: self-care, productivity and leisure.
This image from Bazyk, S. (2022). Occupational Therapy: Promoting Participation in Occupation. does a great job at showing all of the different activities that make up these areas.

Occupational therapists use their clinical knowledge to look at each occupation that someone is having difficulty with, the person themselves, and their environment, to analyze and determine what changes can be made to each of these three areas in order to reduce or eliminate the challenges experienced.
Mobile Minds OT aims to use this approach to help support people with hEDS/HSD in their daily lives, whatever age they are and whatever the occupational challenge may be.
This may include, but is not limited to, education and support around managing daily fatigue and complex comorbidities through strategies such as tailored energy conservation recommendations, ergonomic and adaptive equipment use, mobility aid prescription, sensory processing strategies, and executive function support.
Here, at Mobile Minds OT, we understand that your flare days are unpredictable and that is why we offer flexible scheduling, with appointments available in person and virtual, as well as, varying lengths of between 30 to 60 minutes to accommodate your energy levels.
We also have plans to develop a collection of adaptive equipment which clients can trial during appointments and also take home for short-term rentals PRIOR to investing their OWN money. In addition, we are acquiring our own 3D PRINTER to enable us to create custom-made adaptive equipment when an over-the-counter option is not available for purchase.
